There are some actors that are unsung that do not really get celebrated until they are deceased. This is the case with Reynaldo Rey. He has starred in more than 52 films and a couple of television shows, but many people are just starting to realize how much work Rey did during his lifetime.
He was an actor that was well-known for his role in “227” in the black community. James Dondero recently recalled to the folks at insidermonkey.com that Rey was the mailman on this show, but he would go on to become quite successful in film as well. People know his work in the 1995 Ice Cube hit film “Friday.” He also made appearances in “The Bernie Mac Show” and “The “Wayans Bros.” sitcoms. He was 75 when he passed, and he worked for a good portion of his adult life. He has even be seen in sitcoms as far back as “Sanford and Son” all the way up to newer shows like “The Royal Family.”
Reyanoldo Rey is one of those actors that has remained relevant because he had a good agent. Many actors that have been in sitcoms in the 70’s and 80’s were not able to transition. With Rey he managed to build a career that spanned over 4 decades. He never had a big role in shows, but he was always an important character. What many people may not have known is that Reynaldo Rey also wrote songs.
