Star Trek 3 Will Be Close to Originals

Fans like Zeca Oliveira know that Star Trek 3 is not due in theaters for another year or so but the project has been on a rough road. Changes in production staff and movie direction have had a lot to do with this.

One major reason for the trouble is that director J.J. Abrams has spent his time directing the newest Star Wars movie, which is due at the end of this year. Then the writer of the series Roberto Orci ended up leaving the project, even after being begged by Paramount to be the director.

The recent Trek film, Star Trek Into Darkness was a critical and commercial success but in spite of this, die hard fans of the series didn’t like how this film and the one before it were more centered around action, which was seen as a big contrast to how the original television series was. Luckily for them, cast member Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty, revealed that the next movie will be in tune with the original series.

Pegg, who is also serving as a co-writer for Star Trek 3, considers himself to be a part of the geek culture and feels that the new movie will get back to its roots of adventure and scientific discovery, something that he hopes will excite Abrams. The overall story for the film is still a big mystery, however.
