Forty five-year-old Jennifer Walden is a plastic surgeon who has been certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Born to a dentist and surgical nurse father and mother respectively, Ms. Walden went to the Anderson High School before obtaining her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Texas. She proceeded to join the Medical Branch at the same university where she would later graduate having become the salutatorian of her class.
Ms. Jennifer Walden started her career in the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York City before moving back to Texas to start her practice in Austin. She founded the Walden Cosmetic Surgery Center PLLC in 2011 where she practices cosmetic surgery, providing such services as facelifts, breast augmentations, eyelid lifts and nose jobs, referred to as rhinoplasties medically. She also performs liposuctions and other procedures which are minimally invasive such as Botox and soft tissue fillers. Dr. Walden on LinkedIn.
Dr. Walden is only one of 851 female plastic surgeons who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery out of a total 8,100 professionals countrywide. Out of the 851, only 180 have joined the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and only about a dozen live in Texas. This makes Dr. Walden unique; a board-certified, ASAPS member, a female plastic surgeon practicing in Texas. She believes that the reason that the field of surgery is male dominated is that it takes so much time in training before one can be certified to start practicing that it may delay child bearing, which most women hold very dear. However, she is convinced that being a female plastic surgeon has many advantages, seeing that over 91% of all cosmetic surgeries are performed on women. They are more likely to trust a female surgeon to perform such a function on them than they are to trust a male doctor. Dr. Walden has also co-authored Aesthetic Plastic Surgery; a book about Plastic Surgery.
